On The Menu: Lite Summer Fares

summer beer faresAs we head further into summer, the temperature just continues to heat up. We have some ways to help you cool down. After all, it is the season of enjoying a cold beer outside!

1. Salads

The easiest way to cool down is with one of our Leafy Green Things. Our Greek salad keeps it simple with fresh greens, feta, olives, banana peppers, and light Greek dressing. Want something a bit more dressed up? The Wood-Grilled Chicken, Bacon and Shrimp Salad adds a hearty amount of protein to the crisp greens with bleu cheese dressing. If you are looking for the beef, try out the Chicago Steak Salad. A mix of leafy greens, red onions, mushrooms, cucumbers, and tomatoes with roasted red peppers, Gorgonzola, grilled sirloin steak and finished with ale-battered onion rings. Take it to the next level with a blackened sirloin steak.

On special now at Fairfax: the Summer Spinach Salad! For a very limited time, this colorful bed of greens keeps it fresh with strawberries and blueberries!

2. Dessert

What better way to cool down than with a sweet treat? A perfect way to combat the heat, our Dogfish Brownie Sundae is made with warm homemade brownies and served with vanilla bean ice cream. Even dessert needs a pair. Try it with a Palo Santo Marron; it’s the cherry on top!

On Special now in Gaithersburg: Festina Peche Ice Cream! A handcrafted batch from FX O-Reilly made with peaches and cream ice cream and Festina Peche beer. Yum!

3. Beer

If beer doesn’t make sense on a hot day, what does? Try one of our seasonal brews while they are still being tapped. Aprihop is a fruity, thirst-quenching IPA brewed with apricot juice. Just ask for a table on the patio to make it perfect. Festina Peche, our summer brew is out now! A peachy brew that goes great with salads and chicken, it was made for hot days.
American Beauty is very limited so get it while you can. Sweet and toasty, this brew is begging to be sipped during one of our live music nights. Don’t miss it!

The Return of Two Beers

craft beer releasesA new season means new beers. We are excited for the return of our craft beers, American Beauty and Festina Peche. Two beers, two different stories.

American Beauty

With an ABV of 9.0%, this beer is a popular choice for those who like it stronger. The Imperial Pale Ale is made with organic granola, a sweet and toasty compliment to the barley and all-American hops. With music in mind, American Beauty is the beer embodiment of Grateful Dead. The beer was inspired by the spirit of the band and the culture around the music. The bottle’s labels reflect the band’s signature artwork.

Falls Church will have Pint Night Thursday June 11, 2015 to tap American Beauty starting at 7pm.
Fairfax will be celebrating the 50 Year Anniversary of Grateful Dead with a special tapping of American Beauty starting at 8:30pm.
Gaithersburg is now tapping American Beauty.

Festina Peche

Refreshing and peachy. Two reasons why Festina Peche is our summer season brew. This 4.5% ABV beer is a new take on a traditional style. Known as a neo-Berliner Weisse, Festina Peche is delicately hopped and has a pale straw color. Breweries in Berlin used to make Berliner Weisse, a German white beer with a bit of a sour note, but have since declined in production. In the Dogfish Head take of this beer, the natural peach sugars are eaten by the yeast which allows the fruit complexity to be woven into both the aroma and taste of the beer. To sum it up, it the sourness is softened by the fruit.
