March 13, 2020 by DogfishHead Alehouse

At Dogfish Head Alehouses, our first priority is the health of our guests and team members. With this in mind, we are closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) and local situation as it develops and following guidance from local public health officials and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control).

Hours & Events

  • We currently are operating with revised business hours:
    • Sunday – Thursday 11:00am to 9:00pm
    • Friday – Saturday 11:00am to 10:00am
  • We are canceling or rescheduling all March special events. You will be refunded for any pre-payments you’ve made. Please contact the manager at your local restaurant for details.

Safety Precautions

Here are the steps we’re taking to make your dining experience as safe and enjoyable as always:

  • Diligently following proper hand washing techniques and use of gloves and hand sanitizer.
  • Making sure that all areas of the restaurant are disinfected multiple times daily, including kitchen and dining room surfaces and all guest touchpoints.
  • Wiping down and sanitizing menus and tables after each use.
  • Providing ongoing communication and education to employees and requiring anyone who doesn’t feel 100% well to stay home and follow proper health and safety procedures.
  • Ensuring that all our food and supplies purveyors are taking equally stringent precautions.

This situation is changing daily; we will adapt as necessary and keep you up to date.

We know these are trying times and if coming in to enjoy a beer and a burger makes your day a little better, we are here for you.

Thanks for your loyalty and support.

What is a Randall?

February 24, 2019 by DogfishHead Alehouse

You may have seen some events at Dogfish Head Alehouse that feature "Randall The Enamel Animal." You might be wondering ... What is this Randall thing?

Randall The Enamel Animal Craft Beer Infuser

Developed in 2002 by Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione, the Randall is a unique infuser mechanism for craft beer. This two-chambered beer infusion device is designed to enhance the flavor of draft beer with hops, herbs, spices or whatever floats your boat!

Randall the Enamel Animal is the original gangster organoleptic hop transducing module. Basically, it’s a sophisticated filter system that allows the user to run draft beer through a chamber of whole-leaf hops, spices, herbs, fruit, etc. so that the alcohol in the beer strips the flavor from whatever you add and puts it in the beer.”

- Sam Calagione

Features of The Randall

  • Beer enters the infusing chamber from the bottom, maximizing beer-hop contact and forcing foamy beer to exit at the top.
  • Automatic chamber vents eliminate vapor-locking and maximize beer-hops contact.
  • “De-foaming” chamber provides both space and time for foamy beer to settle.
  • Adjustable faucet balances between different beer types or short-draw/long-draw draft systems.
  • Ice chamber keeps beer cold between pours.
  • Draft dispensing components eliminate those unexpected beer showers.

Beers to Serve at Thanksgiving

November 22, 2015 by DogfishHead Alehouse

craft beer thanksgivingWe should all give thanks for a holiday that’s centered around eating and drinking. No presents to buy, no stressful obligations – just enjoying an all-day meal with the people we love.

Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to crack open a beer or three. Here are a few of our favorites to try this year.

Festive Thanksgiving Beers

Getting Started

Thanksgiving is a long and leisurely affair, and you’ll have plenty of downtime while you chop veggies, wait for the turkey to roast, and watch football. Start with a smooth, easy-to-drink beer that will tickle your taste buds without leaving you napping on the couch before dinner is served.

Lagers
Lagers tend to be bright, crisp and approachable. Pace yourself and choose one with a low to medium ABV – it’ll keep you happy through a laid-back afternoon of cooking. Pilsners, German-style bocks or golden lagers are all excellent choices.

Belgian-Style Ales
Ranging from light, fruity witbiers to malty, spicy dubbels, Belgian-style ales offer a wide variety of flavors to help you work up an appetite. Start with something light-bodied and work your way up.

Try: Namaste

Main course

You know you’ll want to try a little bit of everything … and then a little more of everything. These beers are versatile and pair well with many different flavors, so they’ll take you through all the helpings you can manage.

Saisons
Saisons often pair well with poultry because of their citrusy, floral notes. Try one to bring out the best in your turkey and cranberry sauce.

IPAs
That little burst of hops in a good IPA can balance a rich, hearty meal and make everything on your plate taste that much better. Go for one that has a bit of a bite – but not so much that it will overpower your food.

Try: 60-Minute IPA

Dessert

After a tough day of filling your belly with delicious food and drink, you deserve a little more indulgence. Treat yourself to an unapologetically decadent brew to accompany your pumpkin or pecan pie.

Stouts
Comfort food in a glass, stouts are rich and creamy – the ideal companion to dessert. Opt for a chocolate or oatmeal stout, or one with spicy or malty notes.

Brown Ale
This warm ale offers just the right amount of smooth and spice. It is the perfect beer to warm up to.

Try: Punkin Ale

Don’t forget to stop in for our Pre-Thanksgiving Bash at your local alehouse the day before Thanksgiving!
